Movie Essay

One of the most popular cartoons of the 50s and 60s was Alvin and the Chipmunks. It is no wonder that children of these times loved them so much; they were small cute and cuddly young chipmunks. The movie Alvin and the Chipmunks is certainly a favorite of many people, young and old alike. For simple reasons that are constantly funny, the characters are extremely loveable, and the story is a classic favorite.

It is true that everyone loves a good, funny movie. The many people, who have seen either the TV show or the movies, were greatly rewarded with this comical program. The innocence of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore will make one giggly. Watching them do stupid stunts is very laughable. For example, the brothers decided they want toaster waffles, and they do not know that they need to set the timer. When the toaster waffles are done, they are burnt and fly all over the kitchen. While Alvin, Simon, and Theodore hide behind an oatmeal container. Or later in the movie when they move in with their manager and Theodore is on a remote control car. His two brothers have the remote and send poor Theodore around the whole yard on the back of the car. Another part of the movie that is hilarious is when Alvin, Simon, and Theodore first move in with Dave, and he goes to work leaving these young chipmunk kids home alone. By the time Dave comes home, his house, as he knew it, is turned up side down, to the point that he is not sure it’s his own house anymore.

By now it is obvious who the main characters are. Dave is a poor song writer, who also has a very poor love live. The pervious year, he was caught cheating on his girlfriend, who is also his neighbor. Then when the chipmunks find him, they are able to make is poor songs into popular hits, and also improve his love life with his ex-girlfriend. Dave has taken them to his manager and makes him listen to them. The manager loves them and their song, The Christmas Song. He then tells Dave to keep writing for the boys and keep it alive. Another sweet quality about the characters is that the boys are very different from each other. They are nothing alike. Alvin is the adventurous and the trouble maker; Simon is the logical, realistic and smart one; and Theodore is the short and plump loveable one

This tale is about how a man's life changes from before when he did not have much success in his line of work. He was a part time music writer and a man who helps design TV commercials. When he ends up getting fired from his TV commercial job, for a few days he is lazy. Alvin and the chipmunks them come into his life and allow him to write music for them, which they sing and become famous for it. All this time the boys believe that they and Dave are a family. All the while Dave still does not believe so. Until when he realizes just how much he does consider them family after they move out and move in with their manager. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore see after about a week that it is not as great living with the manager as they had believed. Eventually they end up back with Dave, and they become a happy family.

If people cannot say that Alvin and the Chipmunks is a classic, then no other old cartoon is either. Alvin and the Chipmunks is a comical, animated tale of an odd group of creatures who come together and form a family.

Horse Poem

Horses are very graceful and magnificent creatures.

They are as different from one another as you and me.

A horse's mane and the horse's tail flow freely in the wind,

While the horse runs at full speed towards me,

Watching the muscles rippling under the horse’s skin.

Thump, thump, thump went the hooves on the ground,

Growing louder as he grows nearer and nearer.

The relationship of a horse and rider reminds people of a young child's love.

The horse and I galloped across the prairie like a speeding bullet,

Feeling so light and free, almost floating across the land,

Feeling the fresh breeze rush by me as the horse and I race to the creek, splashing
in the water.

How could such a stunning creature be created?

Things Fall Apart

The book Things Fall Apart is kind of a dry story in the very beginning. I lost interest until i read the forth chapter, then it started to get a little bit interesting. I am not really interested in the story, for the fact that I am not into the fictional and magical stories and just is not in my prefured reading choices. But it is starting to pick up in interest from it was before.

Here are a few little facts about the book and the African Culture.
It takes place in Africa, Kola nuts are considered sacred.
They also believe in having a Week of Peace, where everyone is not
hostile towards each other or anything, its a week to be kind and have
time to talk with neighbors without arguetive words.

My Response to Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery"

"The Lottery" is a story full of traditions, culture, and the luck of the draw. The sacrifice that the people of the community make is a big one. Their sacrifice they make is stoning of a loved one or a close family friend. Slips of paper that are prepared the night before are put into a box and one has a black dot. People have not the slightest idea who will be picked, but they know someone will be the one. This is yes a very cruel thought that no one wishes on anyone. But this is their religion, which is done to the thought of the gods praising them with a healthy and plentiful crop. So, really yes it is a horrible thought but then on the other hand it is a tradition, their culture, and the luck of the person who may or may not get picked.

My personal object that means alot to me is my special rock. Why I choose it, is because I always have it with me. It is similar to my good luck charm. It also reminds me of a very close friend.

My special rock was picked up on a beach on Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake, while on a boating trip with a friend, his aunt and uncle and their kids, along with his grandmother and her husband. We went around the island then stopped at a small beach that we named Tipi Beach, because there was some Driftwood placed in the shape of a tipi.

It's important to me because my special friend had given it to me and its in a rough shape of a heart. It's one of those things that if a person that gave it to you wasn't around and close to you for a certain amount of time, then having the object would give you that feeling that they were close to you at the time. My rock also reminds me of very happy and great memories that have taken place also.

My special rock reveals to me as a person that I'm a well liked and loved person. It also gives me a reason to live. It also keeps me going on doing the things I do without wondering how others will react and respond to whatever I maybe doing.

My Best memories with this rock would be every memory that I've had with my special person, who gave it to me. Why? Because I always carry the rock with me where ever I go. It has become one of those must have items with you at all times.

If I ever lost or misplaced it i would feel totally lost without it. It's like something you just have with yo; like your watch, some people couldnt go without having it on their wrist. That's how it is with me and this rock.

This essay was over my special object, which was my special rock. That I got from my very special friend.
